FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Karen Schwank and all news should be directed to her at karen@keedesignsinc.com

President's Message

Friends,

I want to start with a simple but heartfelt thank you. It is an incredible honor to serve as your President this year, and I am truly grateful for your trust. I step into this role with a lot of excitement—and just enough humility to know I have some big shoes to fill.

We have a great year ahead of us—filled with service projects that matter, fellowship that keeps us connected, and plenty of opportunities to make a real impact in our community. I will share more about where we are headed at my Vision Meeting on July 9 (mark your calendars), but for now, just know that I cannot wait to get started with all of you.

A quick reminder: there will be no meeting on July 2, so enjoy the extra time with family and friends as we head into the July 4 holiday.

This year’s Independence Day feels especially meaningful as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. Two hundred and fifty years of history, progress, challenge, and resilience. As John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.” That spirit of service is something we as Rotarians understand deeply.

And as if that were not enough, we also have the excitement of the World Cup coming to the United States during this milestone year—a powerful reminder that connection goes beyond borders, bringing people together across cultures and communities.

In a bit of personal perspective, I recently realized I have now reached the impressive milestone of being one-fifth as old as our nation. So while America celebrates 250 years, I am just getting warmed up.

This July 4, I hope you will take time to connect—really connect—with the people around you. Whether that looks like a backyard barbecue, a morning road race, enjoying the Roswell fireworks celebration, or a relaxed afternoon at the pool, these are the moments that matter.

And here is where I need your help: take photos. Lots of them. We are launching our Strengthening Connections Challenge on July 9, but let’s get an early start by sharing how you are connecting on this historic holiday. Please send your photos to Alicia Hughes so we can highlight the many ways our Rotary family shows up for each other and our community.

Thank you again for the opportunity to serve. I am looking forward to a year of connection, service, and shared purpose.

Leslie M. Bassett
President Roswell Rotary 2026-27

2026 Golf, Tennis, Pickleball Chair Frederick Levy II

When you see Frederick at Roswell Rotary these days, he is a man with a mission-a mission of leading this club's biggest fundraiser of the year!

It's a huge task and will take the commitment of every single Roswell Rotarian to give of their time, talents, connections, energy, and hearts. As the tournament planning kicks into high gear this week, be sure to answer the call. Whether you are called to sponsor, to volunteer, to share your contacts as we fundraise, or to share your talents, please answer the call with enthusiasm and commitment. Say YES!

This tournament has so many moving parts and there is a place for every single Roswell Rotarian in this effort. Make this the year you proudly dedicate yourself to making this tournament the best one yet. Frederick, we are ready to serve!

Sponsorships- The Tournament Engine

Sponsorships are the engine that drives the Golf-Tennis-Pickleball Tournament.

As Rotarians, we know service above self is more than a motto — it’s a call to action. That’s why the Roswell Rotary Golf, Tennis, & Pickleball Tournaments are more than just fun on the fairways and fierce matches on the courts. They’re engines of change for our community.

Every dollar raised through our annual tournaments goes directly to local charities that make a difference in the lives of children, veterans, seniors, and families in need. Corporate sponsorship helps fund programs that provide winter clothing for students, medical equipment for veterans, meals for homebound seniors, and educational support for at-risk youth — to name just a few.

Thank you to the Sponsorship Committee for stepping up to serve in this critical role. But remember, the Sponsorship Committee will need the help of every Roswell Rotary member. We have to fire up this engine with our friends, neighbors, contacts, and networks. We are all part of the sponsorship team!

To sponsor or learn more, visit the Tournament Website or contact Kurt Hilbert  khilbert@chalmersadams.com or Frederick Levy   fjlevy@gmail.com

Commit early! The Big Connect event is on August 9th, and all committed and paid sponsors will get a free beer at one of our three event breweries while we perform a service project for one of the tournament charities. Great way to get your company involved and experience hands-on exactly where your sponsorship dollars go!

Volunteers-The Heart of the Tournament

Volunteers – The secret sauce to our day of service and fundraising for charities is our volunteers. Secure your spot now so you know how you’ll contribute…and how you’ll enjoy the fellowship the rest of the day. Volunteering has a not-so-secret side benefit of building relationships (dare I say Strengthening Connections?? ?) with fellow Rotarians!

For many Roswell Rotarians, the Golf, Tennis, Pickleball Tournament is the place where they, as a new member, felt most engaged and made the most connections with their fellow club members. Volunteer, make new friends, serve our community-We all win!

Registration Team

The Registration Desk is the First impression for our tournament attendees. The goal of this high energy registration team is to welcome everyone with big smiles and enthusiasm and kick off their day by making every donor feel special for their contributions for our charities. It's a full day of fun and raising money for the charities of Roswell, North GA and across continents.

The Roswell Rotary is hosting our 48th Tournament this year. Our volunteers are onsite at 5 am setting up for the day. You will experience first class treatment from check in, special games on the holes to lunch all while interacting and networking with business leaders from the metro area.

Golf has two rounds, one shotgun start in the am and one right after lunch. There are several games, charitable opportunities and beverages offered throughout the golf course.

The Hagan Cup Tennis-Pickleball Classic is a blast. Bring a partner or we will pair you up with one. Come try to win the esteemed Hagan Cup. And be sure to grab a glass of Haganade!

And remember that Pickleball is back after a fabulous first year! Bring your skills and your fun.

The Registration Team is excited to greet you and get your tournament experience started with joy and appreciation for your service to our community. See you on Sept. 14th.

August 9 3pm - 6pm
The Big Connect

The Big Connect – Strengthening Connections Campaign accelerator!

On Sunday, August 9 from 3 pm – 6 pm. Roswell Rotary will sponsor a crowd-pleasing volunteer event – three impactful projects at three of our beloved breweries – Gate City, Variant, and Voo Doo. We will hit each brewery for an hour, have fellowship, and complete a service project at each – for 3 of our local charities! It will be a fast-paced service accelerator afternoon demonstrating our commitment to Service Above Self. And a fun way for us all to connect as club.

Bonus: If you have sponsored Golf, Tennis, or Pickleball and paid, you receive a free beer at one of the breweries.
