YOUTH STUDENTS AT THE SEACAMP IN FLORIDA

RYE Students Anna (Denmark), Nazuna (Japan), Moritz (Germany), Louis (France), Livia (Brazil), Nut (Thailand)

Our D6900 Rotary Youth Exchange students had a wonderful opportunity to gather together with all of the other RYE-Florida inbound

students (D6990) in the Florida Keys at Seacamp (www.seacamp.org). This annual trip is always one of the highlights of the year for our exchange students. Seacamp has hosted RYE for more than 26 years and this year, after struggling because the Hurricane Irma that hit them last September, the Staff have done their best putting everything together to make this happened and recovering themselves. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody participated in this great experience by sending our inbound student Anna Moldrup from Denmark, and our fellow rotarian Tania López as chaperone in company with the other five students from our District (Nazuna (Japan), Moritz (Germany), Louis (France), Livia (Brazil), Nut (Thailand)

The students had the opportunity to learn environmental education and create environmental awareness, utilizing snorkeling and scuba diving to help to remove marine debris also they receive instruction on the ecology of coral reefs, seagrasses, sponge flats, mangroves, sandy and rocky shores, and terrestrial communities all this in different scenarios, through games, and a very creative and fun ways, making the experience unique.

Wondering how to get more involved with your Rotary Club?

We have added a new resource to the website – it’s called the Opportunity Book and provides a summary of many of our projects that serve the community or help us build awareness of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody and attract new members. You can see the volunteer opportunities for each project and learn more about a project’s history/funding. Most important, we’ve provided the contact information for the project chair, so that you can ask questions and get involved now.

To view the Opportunity book, go to https://dunwoodyrotary.org/resource/737 ... You can review projects there or download a copy to your desktop.

We plan to expand this resource to include a section about opportunities to help with the Club’s day-to-day operations and our Family of Rotary events. Help us do that by letting Jackie Cuthbert know what you’d like to know more about – you can email Jackie at cuthbert@mindspring.com or call her at 770-597-1183.

2018 DISTRICT CONFERENCE

SANDESTIN GOLF AND BEACH RESORT MIRAMAR BEACH, FLORIDA - APRIL 26-29, 2018

With touches of technology, entertainment, innovation, and opportunities to sweat and serve, Rotacon2018 is a district conference designed to engage Rotarians, their guests, and families for a weekend full of inspirational stories, entertaining sessions, and educational breakouts. Enjoy time with your fellow club members and get to know 1,000 Rotarians and their guests from all over District 6900 in a relaxing and entertaining environment that is Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort.

If you've been to district conference before, you'll notice a few things different at Rotacon 2018. Opportunities to learn (in breakout session format) about compelling Rotary programs as well as engaging lifestyle learning sessions have been added. General sessions will be designed to take place within 90 minutes so that more time can be dedicated to enjoying time with fellow Rotarians, family, and friends. And perhaps the biggest difference will be that celebration of club achievements will take the form of an Oscars-style service award night in lieu of our traditional club achievement awards which are being moved out of the district conference program to a separate celebration later in the Rotary year.

If you've never been to a district conference, you'll find that Rotacon 2018 is designed with the average Rotarian and guest in mind.

Bring the family and enjoy an incredible, entertaining weekend in a beautiful setting!

REGISTRATION - NOW OPEN!
