Club Small Group Meetings: Let Your Voice Help Shape Our Future

Your Ideas Needed: Small Group Discussions about Dunwoody Rotary

This week, we have started the process of meeting with small groups of Dunwoody Rotarians to gather more of your thoughts about the Rotary Club of Dunwoody – to learn more about what you value and how you perceive everything from our service initiatives to fund-raising, meetings and events, Family of Rotary, and the way we communicate. These sessions are very important to the Club as we set our aspirations and direction for the next five years, and we need your help! Please take the time to attend a session and share your voice.

Why are we doing this? It's good practice for every Rotary Club – every one of us – to stop and take stock of what we’re doing, what’s valuable, what’s important, what needs to change. That’s why we sent out a survey last year. And while the survey gave us some good information – it also strongly suggested a need for small group conversations as we look at the best ways to continue providing value to our members – and serve Rotary’s goals to make a significant difference in our communities and the world.

How can you help? By registering to attend a session … and investing a couple of hours in one of these group conversations. We have opened registration on the web site for sessions on Feb. 21 and 25, and Mar. 6, 8. You can also register for a new session scheduled next Friday, March 2 at the Westin from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. (no regular meeting that Friday because of the Governor's Ball. To register, please go to https://dunwoodyrotary.org/v2/calendar/view and click on one of the dates that shows “Small Group Discussion about Dunwoody Rotary” and add your name - or send an email to Jackie Cuthbert at cuthbert@mindspring.com. We’re limiting the size of each group to allow for good productive conversations. We will schedule enough sessions so that everyone may join us. Your attendance will count as a make-up.

If you have questions about these sessions, please feel free to contact Jackie Cuthbert, who is leading this initiative.

Laws of Life Essay State Finalist Judges Needed

Our Club has been invited to provide up to 6 judges to read and rank State Finalist Laws of Life essays. Around March 16, each judge will be emailed 15 to 20 essays to read and return their rankings within 7 days.

Volunteers may register by:

(1) visiting the “volunteer” page at www.georgialawsoflife.org;

(2) sending your contact information to the contest’s State Director at caroljgray@georgialawsoflife.org;

(3) emailing your contact info to George Stewart at stewartga@comcast.net.

The Rotary Foundation

Receives Highest Rating from Charity Navigator

For the 10th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating — four stars — from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S.
In the most recent ratings, the Foundation earned the maximum of 100 points for demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
In a letter to the Foundation, Charity Navigator notes that "only 1 percent of the charities we evaluate have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that The Rotary Foundation outperforms other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets The Rotary Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness."
The rating reflects Charity Navigator's assessment of how the Foundation uses donations, sustains its programs and services, and practices good governance and openness.

25th Annual Rotary Club of Dunwoody Governor’s Ball

SAVE THE DATE: March 3, 2018, Westin Concourse.

There is a large percentage of members who donate items each year and We're quite sure that trend will continue. If you plan to donate or solicit a donation please indicate so as early as possible. This will allow us to get the Greater Giving database in order and will also allow us to create an Auction Catalog earlier in the process.

Now is the best time to bring gifts that you already have!
