Last Week at Rotary
Instead of Over Complaining, try Over Helping

On January 7, the club welcomed Sidney Kirschner to the Podium. He opened his presentation with the following statement: "I was asked to speak a little about my retirement experience, but I had to leave work to be here today." He likes to stay busy even in retirement. He did however offer a few sage words about retirement. Most notably he suggested the best possible thing for anyone in retirement to do is to stay engaged. He urged us all to "get involved", "have socialization", and don't miss out on the "human touch". He noted that the human touch can be best found through face to face confrontation and interaction. He stressed the importance of showing interest and asking questions. He went on to say that joining and participating in a club is vital. He made mention of the short-hand language that we use with one another. The myriad of acronyms and odd language that we Rotarians use can take a while to learn and appreciate, but it does add volumes to our experience together as a group. It becomes a tie that binds. The human bonding experience is the foundation of Sidney's most valuable advice for enhancing one's life and enjoyment in retirement.

In case you missed it, here is information from last weeks newsletter about Sidney.
