Billy Grogan became the first Chief of Police for the new city of Dunwoody in December 2008.Previously, Chief Grogan served as Deputy Chief of Police for the Marietta Police Department where he was employed from 1981 until his retirement in 2008. Chief Grogan was promoted through the ranks of the Marietta Police Department and served in many challenging, yet rewarding positions. We are pleased to count Chief Grogan as a member of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody.
As a police professional, Chief Grogan is committed to the concept of Community Policing as a way to connect with the community in a meaningful way to combat crime and disorder and improve the quality of life for the visitors and citizens of Dunwoody. [more]
This Friday, we will vote on the two bylaws updates that were circulated early last week by email. A reminder email is going out today.
If you are not able to join us at Friday's meeting, please send your absentee vote by by 12:01 am on September 5, 2019 to the three people counting absentee ballots - Rick Otness, Bill Mulkey and Gary Lane.
If you have any questions about the proposed bylaw changes, please contact Cathie Brumfield.
As a new initiative to help members learn more about their fellow members, each week a member will have the opportunity to spend about 3 minutes immediately after Sunshine to share their professional and family lives. If you want to be added to the list please contact me - Carter Stout at cstout@stoutkaiser.com.
At the request of Cathie Brumfield, I am heading up a committee to focus on activities that help Dunwoody Rotarians help one another grow their business. If you're interested in being on the committee, please contact me at cstout@stoutkaiser.com .All are welcome. If you don't have time to be on a committee then feel free to send me your ideas and suggestions.
Our committee needs some additional members! Please take this opportunity to meet some amazing high school students who want to be a part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program. We especially could use help with recruiting outbound students for the 2020-21 school year – recruiting starts in August! All that is required is (1) a criminal background check; and (2) a short on-line training regarding interactions with Youth Exchange students. That’s it!! Other volunteer opportunities (i.e., meeting make-ups!) also are available. Please contact Deb Cameron with questions or to get involved in this great Rotary program: dsc630@gmail.com or 404.668.1259.
