Jeremy Emmett, Chief Operating Officer of Southern Lodging Chief Operations Officer, will share plans for the new Marriott hotel.
In addition to providing a place for quality overnight lodging, the hotel will employ more than 50 people and the construction phase involves a $12 million investment.
Justin and his family moved to Thomasville from California where he had a successful career. He was looking for a opportunity to have a quality of life where he was able to spend more time with his family. He is appreciative of the warm welcome he has experienced, learning to enjoy driving a truck, and avoiding the traffic!.
Broadstreet media focuses on creative story telling that captures the emotion and 'heart' of businesses. He enjoys working with organizations in Thomasville and the surrounding area.
August 24th, Thomasville Rotary will be hosting it's annual Golf Outing at Country Oaks benefiting United Way. Volunteers, sponsors and teams are needed! Please help support this worthy fundraiser.
September's Rotary focus is Basic Education and Literacy. Below are just some of our club's initiatives.
Literacy Day/Month – Fill all the “little
libraries” in the community with new books and give books to YMCA and The Boys
and Girls Club.
Laws of Life Essay project - Encourage creative writing by hosting an essay writing contest for high school students. Students are asked to write an essay on character and value and how it applies to the student’s life.
SOUNS - SOUNS is a program developed by Montessori and championed by Brenda Erickson to help children read earlier and better. Our Rotary Club provides SOUNS kits wherever needed.
Character Counts - Character Counts is an educational and character development program in which Rotarians discuss the six Character Pillars with students at The Vashti Center, Marguerite Neel Williams Boys and Girls Club, the Thomasville Community Resource Center and the Thomasville City Schools' Scott Elementary School. Each month focuses on a different character trait. Two Rotarians meet with the students to discuss how the trait of the month has impacted their personal and professional lives. The students are then involved in a discussion about how this trait could apply in their lives and the difference it could make.
Student of the Month - Our Club recognizes students each month for academic and technology achievements.
Advanced Education Scholarships - The Rotary Club of Thomasville awards five $1,000 scholarships for advanced education to deserving students from Thomasville High School, The Scholars Academy, Thomasville Central High School, Bishop Hall Charter School and Brookwood High School.
