Club History
ROTARY CLUB OF FAYETTE DAYBREAK
On June 2, 1993, a group of local business owners and professionals met at Wendell Coffee Golf Center in Tyrone, Georgia for the purpose of exploring interest in forming a local Rotary Club. Members of the Peachtree City Rotary Club and the South Fulton Rotary Club provided the information necessary for understanding the commitment and what would need to be done to form a Club. From this small group of individuals, the Rotary Club of Tyrone was founded and on January 6, 1994 it was chartered. In February 2001, our club's name was changed to Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club.
We have breakfast meetings at the Peachtree City Hotel and Conference Center in Peachtree City, Georgia, Thursdays at 7:15 AM.
We strive to make a difference in Tyrone and across Fayette County through supporting the Tyrone Library and its Literacy and GED programs, making donations to local non-profits like the Fayette Care Clinic, AVPRIDE, and Arms Forces Mission, volunteering and sponsoring fundraising events including our signature events - Paws for a Purpose Charity Dog Walk and 5K-9 Run in the spring and Tyrone Founders Day Race in the fall. We recognize the leaders of our community: teachers, law enforcement, and municipal workers, with appreciation breakfasts throughout the year. And we seek to help people around the world through supporting the efforts of Rotary International and programs like Polio Plus and CART (Coins for Alzheimers Research Trust Fund). We're also proud to sponsor the InterAct Club at Sandy Creek High School.
Each year, the Rotary Clubs of District 6900 gather for a conference. In the past, our club has been given great honors at this event including Presidential Citations, awards for Club Service, Vocational Service, and Community Service, as well as Best New Project, Best Bulletin and Best All-Around Club.
Just as our members are committed to our community and to world understanding, we are committed to each other as Rotarians. We enjoy the projects we do and we enjoy the fellowship we have with each other. Please come and join us in our fun, our fellowship, and our service!
