This is the eleventh year that the LaGrange Rotary has been involved in the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. This 43rd annual Christmas Parade's theme was "Children's Christmas Stories". This year our own Rotarian Roy Nichols was selected as being the 2019 Christmas Parade Marshall.
We selected "Literacy" as our theme because it is a major initiative for our club, with Rotary Readers, the Pre-K book program and the Jungle Bus. The Troup County School District/Rotary Club of LaGrange/United Way sponsored Jungle Bus was in this year's parade. Interact students dressed as different characters from children's books and marched with Troup County Employees, Rotary and Rotaract members along with the bus.
The parade was covered by the local newspapers and was televised by the LaGrange cable network. Last year we came in second in the Civic category, but this year we managed to come in first. The night of the parade was enjoyed by all.
