The district joined with District 255, of Japan, to sponsor a Group Study Exchange. Tom Faircloth, of Thomasville Club, was the 690 leader, and both the 690 group and the Japanese group attended the District Conference. Both told of their experiences while being in a foreign country. The relationship with Germany’s District 190 continued with a Family Friendship Exchange, under the capable guidance of Sophia Crouch, of Sandy Springs Club. Both of these groups also attended the District Conference.

Under the Health, Hunger and Humanity Program, the district sponsored a project of digging four wells in India, under the leadership of Doctor Jaleel.

The West DeKalb Rotary Club was chartered on May 9,1989 sponsored by Decatur and North DeKalb.

Ted took no chances with his District Conference and appointed J.C. “Woody” Woodward, of North DeKalb, as chairman. Woody served as chairman of four District Conferences, and all of them were successful. Attendance was 1,200 and Roberto Valentin of Puerto Rico, our own Zone Director of RI, served capably as the RI President’s Representative.
