From Our District Governor
Zone Summit: Spotlight on Leadership, Innovation and Global Challenges

I wanted to share with all of you some of the learning, leadership, innovation, and fellowship opportunities that happened when Rotary leaders from across Zones 33 and 34 gathered in Jacksonville a few weeks ago for the highly anticipated Rotary Summit.

The summit featured powerful presentations, including expert-led sessions on Artificial Intelligence and Disaster Relief, highlighting how new technologies can transform Rotary’s response to crises worldwide. Another highlight was the Peace Moonshot 2030 initiative, where District Governor Steve Ivory and District Governor-Elect Cynthia Edwards joined Rotary International President-Elect Larry Lunsford and Zone Director Patrick Eakes in discussions about advancing Rotary’s peacebuilding mission. And, innovation took center stage when CEO Jim Marggraff and Dave Cochran of the Alpharetta Rotary Club presented the Kibeam E-Book Reader during a “Shark Tank” event of Rotary leaders, showcasing the power of technology to expand literacy and education access.

As you will read later in the newsletter, our own emerging leaders Amy Benton (Peachtree City) and Lisa Gelber (North Fulton) proudly represented future generations of Rotary leadership, engaging in training and networking sessions.

A highlight of the summit was DGE Cynthia Edwards’ formal introduction, as she walked the stage to represent District 6900 with pride. I also had the opportunity as your DG to deliveed a heartfelt Rotary Moment, reminding all participants of the values and impact that unite Rotarians worldwide.
