Recognizing World Polio Day

by Wynita Cannon, District Polio Chair

On October 24, Rotary International and communities around the globe came together to recognize World Polio Day —a day to reflect, raise awareness, and renew our commitment to the mission: End Polio Now.

Rotary District 6900 showed up with heart, energy, and purpose. We are proud to highlight the incredible efforts of our clubs across the district who participated in events, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns to help eradicate polio from the planet.

  • District Governor Steve Ivory’s “Push-Ups for Polio” campaign was a standout success, energizing clubs and members to get involved in a fun and impactful way. We'll let you know soon what we raised.
  • Peachtree City Rotary and the Atlanta Southern Crescent/Emory Clifton Satellite held Pizza for Polio nights
  • The Rotaract Club of Atlanta sponsored Pints for Polio, as well as a billboard highlighting Rotary's polio efforts
  • The Rotary Club of Atlanta Metro will hold a Pickleball for Polio tournament on November 15 - see the story in this newsletter about how you can participate
  • Atlanta Southern Crescent created awareness with an online purple pinky campaign

We extend our deepest appreciation to every club that participated —your dedication and creativity made this year’s World Polio Day a powerful demonstration of Rotary’s global reach and local impact.

Together, we are closer than ever to making polio history. Let’s keep pushing forward until every child is safe from this preventable disease.
