Partnering with others in the Dunwoody community, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody once again supported the creation of Harvest Baskets for 85 needy families at a local elementary school. Our participation includes some funding AND being on-hand to load baskets for recipients on distribution day. But perhaps the highlight is the "turkey trot" - not a 5K race but rather a run through the local Publix to buy holiday turkeys - because there's a two-turkey limit for any one buyer. So Dunwoody gathered its crew and ran back and forth with turkeys a week or so before Thanksgiving, and a day or two before basket distribution.
The baskets are designed to feed a family for at least a week - with breakfast and lunch items in addition to all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanks especially to Anita and Charlie Augello and their family for leading our efforts for several years!
