Griffin Brings Lunches and Support to Griffin-Spalding Teachers

The Rotary Club of Griffin has been a Partner in Education with the Griffin-Spalding County Schools for decades. The COVID pandemic has forced that partnership to change. While Griffin Rotary continued to support our schools financially in various ways, club members missed the in-person interaction with students and teachers.

It has been a long standing tradition in the Rotary Club of Griffin to host the system's new teachers at a club meeting. In 2020 the much anticipated New Teacher Luncheon could not take place. In 2021 we learned that the new teachers would once again not be able to attend a club meeting. In true Rotarian style, since the teachers could not come to a luncheon meeting, Griffin Rotarians came to the teachers instead. Rotarians served boxed lunches prepared by the caterers for the club’s regular meetings. The Griffin Rotarians were able to meet and speak to all of the new teachers in the Griffin-Spalding County School System, and in many ways make a more meaningful connection with the teachers in the Griffin-Spalding community.
