Clubs all across the district took special measures to celebrate World Polio Day and raise money to support polio eradication. Many clubs posted the polio story on their Facebook pages. Midtown Atlanta and Smyrna each hosted special meetings with updates on where the fight against polio stands today. The Rotary Clubs of Carrollton and Carrollton Dawnbreakers teamed up to turn the Courthouse red. And Georgia's Governor issued a proclamation commemorating World Polio Day.

The Rotary Club of Moultrie hosted its 3^rd Annual “Pints for Polio” event on World Polio Day! The club partnered with a local restaurant, The Square, to host the event on October 24^th.The Square donated $1.00 for every craft pint purchased that night and an addition $1.00 for every dinner entrée. Polio facts were posted on each table, informing each patron about the “Top 5 Reasons to Eradicate Polio:”

1. To improve lives: 16 million people are walking today who would have otherwise been paralyzed.
2. To invest in the future: If polio isn’t eradicated, within 10 years, as many as 200,000 children could be paralyzed by it each year. A polio-free world will be a safer world for children everywhere.
3. To improve child health: Polio surveillance networks and vaccination campaigns also monitor children for other health problems like vitamin deficiency and measles, so they can be addressed sooner.
4. To save money: A polio-free world will save the global economy $40-$50 billion in health costs within the next 20 years.
5. To make history: Polio eradication would be one of history’s greatest public health achievements, with polio following smallpox to become only the second human disease eliminated from the world

The Rotary Club of Roswell found raising funds and awareness for “End Polio Now” seemed natural when paired with drinking wine at Deep Roots Wine Market & Tasting Room in Roswell. Over 30 Roswell Rotarians showed up to socialize and talk about ending polio because “we are just this close."
