Happy New Beginnings - Satellite Rotary Club of Georgetown Quitman

The Rotary Club of Cuthbert is proud to announce that they are the host club of the Satellite Rotary Club of Georgetown Quitman. It has taken quite some time to complete all of the requirements, but on March 1, 2024, it was finalized. This relationship will strengthen the Cuthbert Rotary Club, while we support and build up the Satellite Club of Georgetown Quitman. We look forward to the opportunities that this relationship will bring to Randolph and Quitman Counties.

The program began with Vice Chair of the satellite club David Kinsey sharing the desire of the Georgetown Quitman folks to re-instate their Rotary Club. Our Assistant District Governor Rene Smith and Past Assistant District Governor then shared the requirements to become a Rotary Club, starting with having at least 20 members. They explained that a Satellite Club may be formed with as few as eight members once a host club is identified. They continued by sharing briefly some of the other requirements prior to this becoming official.

Cuthbert Rotary Club President Patricia Goodman followed by explained that many calls, texts, emails and meetings were involved to make Satellite Rotary Club of Georgetown Quitman sure that the requirements were being met while ensuring that each club was in agreement with the final decisions. Next, Assistant District Governor Rene Smith inducted the six present charter members into the Rotary Club of Cuthbert – Georgetown Quitman County. The program concluded with our District Governor Andre` Marrio congratulating us on this outstanding achievement and challenging us to tell our Rotary story, while making a difference in our communities.
