A miracle occurred last Saturday at Bounds Gardens: A record 15 Sprucetarians reported to our little park that had shown signs of heart-breaking neglect.
Dunwoody Rotarians Jenny
Stipick, Tina Philpot, Rick Otness, Ed Holliday, Neal MacDonald and his life
partner Amy, and the Ol' Park Ranger came. They were joined by YOUNG
members of the Atlanta Rotaract Club led by Rotaract President Megan Radney.
They were Madeleine, Alex West, Valentina Buchanan, Paula Carder, and
Sahas Das, as well as a young walk-up volunteer named Norman Downey.
Ninety minutes and done. Eleven yard trash bags.
Twelve pine straw bales. Restoring the Gardens to its rightful place as
"the prettiest little .005 acre park in Dunwoody".
Our numbers guy Rick O figures our average age on Saturday was around 45, down
from the normal 60+. How 'bout that Mr. O'Brien now?
Many thanks to all, especially our young, energetic and hardworking
Rotaractors.
The few, the proud, the Sprucetarians!
(Bounds Gardens is the traffic island across the street from the Dunwoody
library. Next Spruce up is October 19.)
