Still Time to Help with Next Week's USO Volunteer Day at Hartsfield Airport


Have you signed up to help with our USO Volunteer Day at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: Thursday October 17, It's a long time Dunwoody tradition - and this year, Anchor Place participants created artwork that we are turning into cards thanking current military and veterans for their service. We will serve our service personnel and family members an “All American” lunch of hot dogs with all the condiments, potato chips, fresh fruit, snack bars, home baked cookies bottled water, AND a portion of baked Ziti & Mom’s meatball. We would like to have a total of eight volunteers for the day from 9 AM to 3 PM. A shout out to our new members: please consider volunteering at the USO, it is one of the most satisfying and rewarding day of service.

Duties vary from greeter, cookie packer, hot dog grill mate, server, bag monitor and carrying out other to do items needed to serve our military service personnel. We also need:

  • Home baked cookies, only the best for our military personnel. We ask the bakers to make about 60 of their favorite cookie. They can be delivered in bulk to the E.48th Street Market on 10/15 and 16 before 6PM. We will repack them on the day of service. 
  • Donations of bottled water (small bottles) and snack bars such as Nature Valley available at Costco at reasonable prices. Items can be dropped off at the E.48th Street Market on 10/15 and 16 before 6PM.

Transportation: It is strongly recommended that volunteers take MARTA to the airport instead of driving as parking continues to be limited because of construction at the airport.
