Thank you to Gayla Nobles and her staff for hosting the club at The Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center in Hampton GA.  Gayla, founder and executive director gave us a brief history of the center which originally started as a Crisis Hotline and grew from there.  The center has grown and evolved over the last 30 years and now serves 8 counties including Henry.  Offering resources and support to Children and Adult victims of sexual abuse including Forensic Medical Exams, Forensic Interviews and Crisis Intervention to name a few. 

 Everything they do inside the center is for the benefit of the victims well being.

The center itself had more of a “Home” feel and look and that is by design.  SCSAC-CAC aims to help victims feel safe, comfortable and prevent them from waiting in a sterile hospital to be helped by someone that is not experienced in sexual abuse which often causes the victims to have to tell and re-live their abuse over and over again. The counselors and Interviewers at SCSAC-CAC are well trained using the Child First Program as well as additional hands on training and continued coaching and interviews are recorded.  The center works well with both law enforcement and DFACS to help protect victims and preserve evidence during the most crucial hours following an assault. 

 This is a service that is hard to think about, it’s heart wrenching to think that a child or an adult is suffering due to abuse but it is more prevalent than we can imagine.
