Marietta Metro Wins the SOUPerBowl!

We did it again! While NFL players were working hard to get ready for the Super Bowl, Marietta Metro Rotarians were working hard to collect cans of nutritious, delicious soup for our annual SOUPer Bowl.  Once again, the club was divided into four teams and challenged to see which team could contribute the most cans of soup.  Our goal was a total of 1,000 cans, but thanks to a fourth-quarter pep talk from Coach Lynn Lanier, the teams blew that out of the water with 1,074 cans. And the Marietta Mountain Goats team (pictured) won bragging rights with more than 300 cans!

The big winners are the students from Georgia Highlands College and Chattahoochee Technical College, whose food pantries are now freshly stocked with soup.  Food insecurity is real, even for students at institutions of higher learning.  Our club already provides scholarships to students at both of these schools, but we like to give them a little extra incentive to stay in school by helping out with some food for brain fuel.
