Don't forget to register for the District Conference!

We're heading back to Jekyll Island!

The 2019-20 District Conference will be held at Jekyll Island on April 30 - May 3, 2020. This is a great opportunity to spend time with fellow Rotarians, enjoy fellowship with members from other clubs, enjoy the island with your family, and learn more about all the great work Rotary District 6900 is doing!

The District website registration page is live (link here), so take care of this today. We're sending a big group this year and will plan to host a hospitality room.

You can stay anywhere on Jekyll Island you like, of course, and many members of our Club will be at the Jekyll Island Club (link here).

Mr. Hal Schlenger: HIPNation - Director Of Business Development and Partner Management

Growing an innovative outpatient healthcare ecosystem that lowers the cost of healthcare by providing access to high quality, personalized care (like concierge on steroids) starting at $100/month --often at 30-50% less than the current cost of care of comparable service -- for small to medium-sizes companies and individuals. Player Coach: Providing strategic solutions and programs for partner providers, channel partners and brokers while providing hands-on sales and marketing for select new members and partners. Licensed insurance broker.

Atlanta Dream Center

The Out of Darkness safe home is the beneficiary of the 2019 District Competitive Grant secured by the Rotary Club of Brookhaven.

There are two available work days on which Rotarians can help with get this safe home ready: September 14 and September 28. I am including links to both work dates below, along with some of the information from one of those pages for those who would like a summary of the goals, work to be done, etc.

September 14 Work Day Link

September 28 Work Day Link

From the Atlanta Dream Center's Out of Darkness project:

We need your help! Come join us for a Work Day at our new safe home property in DeKalb County! We will be tackling a number of projects both inside and outside. You do not need to be a skilled professional, just a willing heart and some elbow grease. With your help, we will be able to open the safe home quickly and double our bed capacity to serve women with safety, love and trauma-informed care!

Lunch and Water will be provided.

Please feel free to come even if you're not able to stay for the whole day.

**Due to the nature of the safe home program, Confidentiality Forms will be required. If you have not previously done so, you can fill them out through this link https://signnow.com/s/55DGXHbm The address will be shared with attendees once completed.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Kids over 12 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent.

What can I bring into the event?

If you have any basic tools to bring, great! (ie. hammer, screwdriver, crowbar, etc.) All other supplies will be provided.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please contact Erik Peddle with any questions regarding the work projects, tools or logistics at erikpeddle@gmail.com.

For any confidentiality, age or volunteering questions, please email Jess Roth at Jess@outofdarkness.org.

Don't Miss the FIELD TRIP!

Brookhaven Rotarians, don't miss our September 25 meeting!

We will meet at Terra Terroir on Wednesday, September 25. There is no cost to attend and have lunch, but YOU MUST RSVP in order to attend the meeting.

Use this link to RSVP https://brookhavenrotary.org/v2/reservation/create?event=4538

Our speaker on the 25th will be Ms. Amy Patterson. As Senior Vice President of Operations for the Championship Hosting Division of the Atlanta Sports Council, Ms. Patterson oversaw all operational aspects of the 2018 College Football Championship and the 2019 Super Bowl LIII. Now she is preparing for the 2020 NCAA® Final Four.

First Woodward Reading Day - September 25

Send Bryan Katz an email to participate in our Club's first reading day at Woodward Elementary School (map here).

We are once again partnering with the Ferst Foundation to send each of Woodward's approximately 150 PreK and Kindergarten students home with a book in his or her hands several times per school year.

As part of that project, we also need each Rotarian in the Club to visit Woodward and read to children on one of our Club's scheduled days during the year.

Many members have identified this as one of the most rewarding projects in which they have participated.

Per Service Chair Bryan, "We'll start around 7:45am and should end by 8:30. There are 2 Pre-K classes and 5 Kindergarten classes so it would be great if we can have 7 volunteers."
