A special Halloween event! Come prepared for tricks AND treats! Halloween costumes optional.
Rotary International encouraged clubs to hold events for World Polio Day. Last year supporters in more than 90 countries registered to have 1,400 World Polio Day events. This year more than 5,000 events were registered for World Polio Day! Our own club was also registered that day and we really appreciate Dr. Johnny Belenchia for coming to visit us and share messages about Polio.
Since 1985 Rotary and it's partners, UNICEF and the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), began working together to help eradicate polio. At that time, there were about 350,00 cases and now there are only 82 cases left! We are so very close to curing it. That would make Polio only the second disease in human history to be eradicated worldwide.
We already have much to celebrate. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio worldwide for many years. In 2015 the Global Commission for the Certification of Poliomyelitis Eradication (GCC), made the official announcement that Wild Poliovirus Type 2 (WPV2) had been eradicated worldwide on September 20. 2015. This year, Wild Poliovirus Type 3 (WPV3) has now also been eradicated! This means the world is closer than ever before to being able to cure polio. Worldwide only two countries, Afganistan and Pakistan, are left with cases of the Wild Poliovirus Type 1 (WPV1).
We need your help to continue the fight and to make sure we do end Polio. We are this close! Remember each gift gets matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation 2:1.

Rotarians Needed To Make a Difference in Changed Lives
The Thomasville Rotary Club has made a difference in the lives of Thomas Counties’ youth for many years. One of the many successful endeavors of the Thomasville Rotary Club has been Character Counts. Character Counts was created in 1992 and is the largest character development organization in the world.
Two volunteers will facilitate Character Counts sessions in one of our organizations. The session lasts about 45 minutes. A great session is when the students carry most of the conversation and the volunteers have a chance to see the hope and joy of our future. Volunteers will be equipped with discussion materials and outlines before each class.
Please let Matt Brown know if you would be willing to consider serving in this meaningful opportunity for the youth of our community.
