President's Message
Relationships, The Chief Speaks

Oh, what a night! Lucia’s served a delicious dinner, there was a roar of laughter and many of us danced the night away. Thanks to all who made the installation party special.

I would personally like to thank Roswell Police Chief James Conroy who at the beginning of the evening hand delivered a letter to my attention.

Dear President Lindsay,

On behalf of the men and women of the Roswell Police Department, I would formally like to congratulate you on your appointment as the new president of the Roswell Rotary Club. The Roswell Police Department is very fortunate to have such a great working relationship with Rotarians here in Roswell and share many of the same beliefs. We understand the importance of your club and are grateful for all you do to make the community great.

We look forward to continuing our partnerships with the Rotary Club and striving to make Roswell better and better.  Please know that my door is always open. I wish you all the best and know that you will lead the best Rotary Club to even bigger and better endeavors.

Sincerely,

James W. Conroy

Chief of Police, Roswell Police Department

Thank you, Chief Conroy. Roswell Rotarians value our relationship and are grateful to be served by such an outstanding police department. It is our pleasure to serve the community and our first responders.

This Week's Speaker
Unstoppable Leader: Using Inner Wisdom for Outrageous Success

Leadership can be stressful and demanding, especially now. The ability of great leaders to make courageous and effective decisions, regardless of the circumstances, comes from inner awareness of their own purpose and values. Stacey debunks the myths about how we actually make decisions, and breaks down blocks to accessing our inner guidance.  The result is we are a force that is both unstoppable and irresistible!

Stacey Ruth is unstoppable. She is the founder of 2 multi-million dollar agencies, an entrepreneur, certified coach, minister, and award-winning author. She has been among the Top 50 Entrepreneurs Under 50 in Atlanta, and twice awarded Top 100 “It” Agencies by Experiential Marketer.  As a novice entrepreneur, she made nearly every business decision mistake possible and managed to thrive. Her businesses have survived personal challenges, the fallout of 9/11 and deep recessions, teaching her how change is not a thing we manage, but a fire that transforms individuals and organizations. Her second book, Own Your Own Shift will be available in just a few weeks.

Club Members Express Their Need for a Blood Drive

"My nephew was around 25 when he came home from work the day before Thanksgiving about 10 years ago and his mother noticed his skin color was weird. She asked him to go to the doctor. The doctor immediately sent him to the hospital. He had leukemia. He spent so much time in the hospital near death hooked up to so many tubes. He had whole body radiation to try to kill the leukemia in his blood. He had so many blood transfusions he can't recall how much blood they gave him. Eventually he had an anonymous donor for a bone marrow transplant. He was given a 70% survival rate. BUT, he recovered and lives a wonderful life. He has since met his donor. Blood donations and a bone marrow donation saved his life! It is so important to donate...you may save a life!!!"  Karen Schwank

Our effort to host the blood drive led President Lynne to write, "This is exactly why our club is so special." Variant Brewery's Michael Curling has been very involved in Roswell Rotary's past blood drives, offering "A pint for a pint" and sharing his personal story about the importance of donating blood. When our club needed a location for the Aug 27 blood drive and his location couldn't handle it, Michael reached out to Gate City Brewery's Pat Rains and made arrangements for Gate City to host our blood drive.  That's a great club and great club members.

Please reserve 60 minutes on Aug 27 to donate.  The online reservation system will be set-up and shared in next week's Rotoscope.  For more information, contact Hal Schlenger.

Saturday, August 29th. 8:00AM - 11:30AM
Sweep the Hooch

Saturday August 29th will be the 10th annual “Sweep the Hooch” river cleanup sponsored by Chattahoochee River Keepers. Roswell Rotary is called upon to clean up the riverbed and trails adjacent to Riverside Road from Don White Park to Eves road.

We need walkers, waders and floaters; so wear old clothes and bring a kayak or canoe if you have one.   Dutch and Kathy Earle will organize the even.  Meet at their home – 9030 Bluffview Trace, Roswell 30076  at 8:30 AM.

Please let Dutch know if you will be attending: hearle@esisearch.com; 770 403 0755 and also you must register at this link. Use team name Roswell Rotary.

This is always a great time for all and a wonderful experience for families and children.

Nov. 3rd Election
Poll Workers Needed

With record-breaking turnout expected in November, counties need to recruit more poll workers than ever before. Having enough poll workers helps to keep lines short and ensures a positive experience for voters.

Reach out to cobi.haggard@fultoncountyga.gov or 404-612-9150 for more information on how to sign up.
