FAMILY OF ROTARY
Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com
As I watch the last days of this year’s summer Olympics cheering for the USA, I am proud and happy to see many athletes draping themselves in the American flag, showing the true spirit of America. I choose to focus on these positive role models rather than the very few taking a knee as our national anthem is played. This last week we heard from a young lady who despite her disability will go on to great things representing our country in the Paralympics in Japan. Good luck Gia and GO USA!
Rotarians also take the high road with their vision of promoting peace and creating movements that will have a positive impact on our community and the world. Youth Peace in Action is gaining momentum in our district and Roswell Rotary is leading the charge with new schools and youth organizations jumping on the peace train each week.
Join us this week as we hear from some experts in the medical field who will give us some insight on how to manage our health care options and possibly save some money in gaining better health.
And last but not least, congratulations to Leslie Bassett for being the first Roswell Rotary "Heavy Hitter" for displaying service above self for July.
The healthcare system is broken, so attracting and retaining employees by offering the most requested employee benefit, health insurance, is challenging. Wellstar continues to be part of the solution, with an unsung hero being primary care. A Wellstar physician and a benefits broker present a shared message how to get and pay for a better, smarter solution, lowering costs for employers and employees.
Dr. Dholaria received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Temple University in Philadelphia. He went to medical school at Spartan Health Sciences University in St. Lucia. Dr. Dholaria completed his Family Medicine residency in Savannah and a Geriatric fellowship in Macon. He practiced in Savannah for 9 years before joining WellStar over a year ago. Dr. Dholaria is board certified in Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and American Geriatrics Society. He is excited and grateful for the opportunity to work at WellStar Family Medicine Crabapple. He is married and has a son, enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, hiking and going to sporting events.
Hal Schlenger believes that small/mid-sized businesses are critical to our country’s strong economy because they are innovative and efficient. Hal provides options for attracting and retaining great employees by offering health insurance and related benefits. Having personally benefited both physically and financially, from the better, smarter primary care that Dr. Dholaria or others provide, Hal explains how both employers and employees can spend less on healthcare while having the protection when hospitalization is needed. A graduate of Syracuse University, Hal also teaches sailing, sponsors Walk with a Doc Atlanta, leads an annual interfaith program, and with his wife Alison, have fostered 95 dogs for Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta.

Groveway Community Group is a small but mighty organization that serves the residents of the Groveway Community in Roswell. It is the oldest non-profit in the city! This historically African-American community has seen its share of sorrow- like in 1961 when their community center was torched by the KKK. But they rebuilt and continue to provide support service and ensure improvement of the general welfare of the community. Groveway is a true grassroots effort.
CLICK HERE to hear from Groveway's own Gail Bohannon- what a delight. Truly making the most of every donated dollar.
ALERT: We made a time change on our Blood Drive - It's now 10:00am - 3:00pm - The American Red Cross is currently facing a Blood Emergency. Important to know - with more donors receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, donors knowing the name of the manufacturer is critical in determining blood donation eligibility. In most cases, there’s no deferral time.
Now more than ever…it’s time to GIVE! The American Red Cross is currently facing a Blood Emergency…don’t delay sign up now!! Ask Rev Kevin Head, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Roswell and the answer is, "The gift of life is precious. We are all grateful for this gift each day when we are able to get out of bed. But we also have the privilege to share the gift of life with another person. Every day, hundreds of people in our community find themselves desperately needing blood. The pint you donate just may be the gift of life that person needs. I hope you will take a few minutes out of your day to offer the gift of life to another person by donating a pint a blood. Blessings!" Click here to reserve 60 minutes on Aug 27 to donate. For more information, contact Darrell Bartlett or Hal Schlenger. Our thanks to Pat Rains and Michael Curling for their current and past help saving lives in our community.
This is what make earns Roswell Roswell such a great reputation
....and "Club of the Year" recognition.
Plan to attend.....and think about bringing a friend or prospective new member.
If you believe in Rotary's mission and recognize the value our club brings to our community and our world, then share it with others!
