FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com

President's Message

Tis the Season.

We kicked off the holiday season with a fun night of dancing, eating, drinking and fellowship with friends on Friday night.  Thanks for all who were able to make the party.   Chris Archer and team did a great job once again.   One of the highlights of the night was our Christmas tree with ornaments with gift recommendations for children which will go to North Fulton Community Charities.  Rotarians are asked to bring the gifts or a gift certificate to this Thursdays meeting.   We will take them to NFCC where Holly York, the Director of the program and her team will distribute the gifts to children of our community.  This will put a smile on a young persons face who may not know the spirit of Christmas.

As we get into the holiday season I can't help but to think that its "Rotary Season" as well as the Holiday Season.   Rotarians understand one of the blessings of this time of year where giving is much better than receiving.  In serving our community all year long, Rotarians are fulfilled with the beauty of giving back to our community in so many ways.  Thank you Roswell Rotary for being the light to so many of those who are less fortunate locally and across the globe all year long.

Teacher Exchange Teachers to Speak

Today we focus on our International activities and Teacher Exchange. Speaking Thursday, Dec 9th, will be Roswell teachers Emily Clausen (Hembree Springs) and Angelique Hayes (Crabapple Middle) Argentina Teacher Exchanges who represented the Club by traveling to and visiting foreign school systems in our Teacher Exchange.

History

Created and developed within Roswell Rotary in 2009, the Teacher Exchange facilitates cultural and education between members of one of the most influential groups in existence: teachers. In concert with the Rotary Club of Pilar, Argentina, our first teacher was hosted in Roswell in 2010, and our first to Argentina – Paula Mengel of Roswell High School – was shortly after.

The Why

The purpose is to have a lasting impact on the teachers, and through them students they teach for the years forward, elevating the lives of both. As such, Emily and Angelique have other former teacher exchange participants to share their experiences and impact, to illustrate the power and reach of one project, created by one very special Rotary club.

Message from President Terry
Bring ornament gift from Christmas Party Tree or a child's gift or gift card $25-$50 to Thursday meeting

Kudos to Chris Archer & Team for the Christmas Giving Tree

For those of you who were able to attend the Christmas party, Chris Archer and his team created a Christmas tree with ornaments which had gift ideas on them for children of our community. We asked our guests to take an ornament and purchase the recommended gift listed on the ornament or bring a gift card for $25 to $50 for a child in our community. Holly York the Director of NFCC and her team will distribute the gifts.

North Fulton Community Charities and Drake House to Distribute to Community Children

We have also received a request from another one of our favorite charities, the Drake house. So, whether or not you were at the party, please bring a child’s gift or a gift certificate from one of your favorite retail stores this Thursday. This will for sure put a smile on a young persons face during this season of giving.

The Ask

Giving Tree: purchase the recommended gift listed on the ornament or bring a gift card for $25 to $50 for a child in our community

If you missed the Christmas Party: You can participate as well! please bring a child’s gift or a gift certificate from one of your favorite retail stores this Thursday

Thanking you in advance for your generosity,

Terry D. Taylor President 2021/2022

Upcoming Project - Bulloch Hall Cleanup

In cooperation with the City of Roswell, Roswell Rotary is putting together a cleanup day on  the grounds of Roswell landmark Bulloch Hall.  Stay tuned for future updates and a specific date to be announced.  Let's grab our tools and gather and help repay the City of Roswell in some small way for the use of the Gym and kitchen facilities that we enjoy each week.  Please contact Matt Millard to let us know you are interested and we will forward you a volunteer waiver.  Thank you!
