Happy Half Year! Celebrating How We Share Our Talents to Make a Difference

By Mary Ligon

This month, Rotary International focuses on Vocational Service - asking members to represent their occupations within their clubs and to exemplify the ideals of Rotary in their places of work. There are many ways you can bring your vocation to Rotary's work and add to the value of your Rotary membership - including volunteering for a service project or joining a Rotary Action Group or Rotary Fellowship.

You can also share the value of Rotary with friends and business associates - by inviting them to attend a meeting, fellowship or service event to learn more about what we do and the difference we can make working together.

And making a difference we are. As we start 2022 - halfway through this Rotary Year, I am proud of what you all have achieved so far and want to share our progress toward some key goals. Read on! [more]

Envisioning a Happy, Healthy and HIV-free Future

By Marion Bunch

The Rotary Action Group for Family Health and AIDS Prevention (RFHA) is a Rotary treasure. It changes lives. There are a lot of great things that Rotary members do, but there are only a few that can be called an actual treasure. RFHA is one of them. What it does for the people is beautiful and the impact is amazing,” shares Dr. Laura Kann, district governor-elect (in Illinois) and RFHA Inc. advisor. (Editor's Note: Laura started her Rotary journey here in District 6900 as part of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody.)

Kann worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for 30 years. But she still felt there was something missing in terms of the work she was doing. After dedicating so many years working for public health on an international level, Kann couldn’t wait to work with the people on the ground level. [more]

Join the Rotary Wilderness Team to Support Work in Honduras

By Paul Ray

The Rotary Wilderness Team and HAVE Foundation are having a fundraiser to reignite our projects in Honduras. This event is Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 6:30 pm, at the Sherwood Event Center in Sandy Springs.  The Rotary Wilderness Team is the official international trip of the Rotary Club of Atlanta but many clubs participate. Go to: https://events.handbid.com/auctions/honduras-hope-2022 for tickets or sponsorships.

If you are a University of Georgia Bulldog fan, this event should interest you - especially after their 2022 National Championship Win. We will have a brief program featuring past Honduras visits and the premier of our 2022 Wilderness Team documentary. The highlight of the evening will feature a UGA Football Legends panel with Kevin Butler, a two-time All American at Georgia and former Chicago Bear, and Frank Ros, Captain of the 1980 Bulldog National Championship team. Our emcee is Mr. College Football, Tony Barnhart. We may also have some surprise “visitors.” [more]
