FAMILY OF ROTARY

President's Message

Alive in Roswell!

Last week was this seasons first Alive in Roswell, and Roswell Rotarian's showed up in numbers!  Mickey Deaton and crew served up food and beverages to many of our seasoned veterans as well as a big group from our new Roswell Rotary After Hours club (RRAH).  The blending of the new young professionals with our more "experienced" Rotarians was fun to watch.

RRAH President Leigh engaged in a conversation with one of our Rotarian supporters of the the Unity Garden at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, and set plans to join forces in managing the vegetable garden with all of the proceeds going to our local charities.  It's great to be a Rotarian!

This week we head down to Destin Florida for our annual District Conference for comradery with other Rotarians around the district celebrating the past Rotary year and to welcome in our new leadership.   If you haven't signed up, its not to late to join our "Spring Break for Adults"!  For those who cant make it down to Destin, not to worry, you are in good hands for our Thursday lunch meeting as Past President Jacque Digieso will be ringing the bell.

After Hours Club Update
Vision Boarding for New Satellite Club

Recap April 19 Meeting

Our After Hours club had a wonderful meeting Tuesday! We started by going through old magazines to find words, phrases and pictures to cut out and put on our “vision board.” The vision board showcases our hopes, ideas and dreams for the club.

We then went around the room and each person talked about what charities and missions are near and dear to their heart. It was a great way to get to know fellow members, and everyone left feeling inspired and excited! Check out our final vision board above! Next meetings are May 3 and May 17 at 6:30pm at the Artillery Room @Gate City!

Speaker for April 28th Meeting
Robb Pitts- Chairman Fulton County Commission

We are honored to have Chairman Rob Pitts speak to our club on Thursday. A businessman and former college professor, Rob is also very active in a variety of community programs. A native of Haddock, Georgia, Robb and his wife, Fran, have one daughter. Looking forward to hearing from this huge Fulton County icon. For more about Chairman Pitts, Click here.

Community Hike: Walk (and talk) with a Doc

"Not Much" is the too-common answer to 'what will get your out on the house on a Saturday morning?"

So here are multiple reasons:

  1. This is a celebration and periodic check-in for  how you are doing with your doctor's advice to do something physical.  We're not judging; we supportive.
  2. Our guest speaker will be Aleksandra Rakita-Jeremic, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor of Fit Mind Counseling will share ideas to get of over "I don't want to or like to exercise."
  3. 100 reasons why you should go for a walk

If you want to look like President Terry and the many other svelte Rotarians, this is what the doctor ordered.  :-)

Our walk will be at the Hyde Farm Park Trail-a great trail along and crossing a quiet creek, along with one hill to challenge you a bit. Fascinating history viewing old farm buildings.

726 Hyde Rd, Marietta, GA 30068 <> https://www.atlantatrails.com/hiking-trails/johnson-ferry-trail/

Note: Our June walk will be Sat, Jun 4 at 8:30am

Tue, May 17: Business Networking Rotary-Style continues
Smarter Biz Dev because it's with Fellow Rotarians (District Event)

This is an opportunity for you or someone on your staff who needs to network and generate revenue, or someone you are interested in recruiting to Roswell Rotary that needs to network with Rotarians:

This is networking with people who have the integrity of the 4 Way Test!  This is why Paul Harris formed Rotary for 1905. Professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and conduct business together.

Our last gathering again drew a crowd from the Atlanta Metro, Dunwoody, Peachtree City, Roswell, Sandy Springs and Tucker clubs.

While Rotary is about "Service Above Self," there is a growing place for networking in Rotary, particularly for those responsible for generating revenue.

Location:     5 Minutes inside 285 and Ashford-Dunwoody Rd

             Marlow's Tavern
             Brookleigh Market Place
3575 Durden Dr NE #301, Atlanta, GA 30319

Please plan to join us on Tue, Apr 19th  from 6:30 - 8:00pm.  We'll also meet Tue, Jun 21 at 6:30pm.

For more information, please contact Hal Schlenger HSchlenger@GreatSouthBenefits.com | (770-335-0077), or Johnathan Clark of the Tucker Club (johnathanmclark@gmail.com | 404.512.6058).

Roswell Rotary & City of Roswell Present
Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 30, 2022

The 23rd annual Roswell Remembers Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 30th at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street.

A joint effort with the City of Roswell, the grounds open at 10:00 a.m. with displays and music. The program will include a military ceremony, presentation of colors, the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, POW/MIA tribute and the laying of the wreath by the family of Jeff Pruitt.

New this year is Roswell Garden Club’s dedication of the Blue Star & Gold Star Families Memorial Markers. The Blue Star Marker is a tribute to all those who have served, are serving and will serve in the United States Armed Services. The Gold Star Families Marker is a tribute to those who have lost a loved one in service to the United States.

At the conclusion of the program, lunch may be purchased through food trucks on the ground.

Contact Dave Young, Memorial Day Committee Chair at northfultonpt@juno.com with questions. This is a great opportunity for ALL Roswell Rotarians to serve those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.
