Golf Tournament Update
There's Another Good Reason NOT to Miss this Week's Meeting!

In addition to our great speaker, you'll want to be early so you won’t a special appearance by our own PDG Bill Woulfin who will be giving us a full description of an amazing auction item he is donating to benefit our golf tournament: A full day on a deep-sea fishing trip for two on the Gulf with all foods, drinks and equipment provided. This auction item also includes two nights in the Orange Beach Holiday Inn and dinner at the Grand Marlin restaurant.

Bill only has 10 minutes on the agenda, so bring your questions and get ready to bring your checkbook to the golf tournament!

Service Opportunity
Sign up NOW for Next Week's USO Day

Time is short for our USO deployment next Thursday, April 18. This is a BIG tradition with Dunwoody Rotary and folks have been slow to sign up this time around. Please consider volunteering at the USO, it is one of the most satisfying and rewarding day of service. We're asking for three kinds of volunteers:

  • Bakers: We want home baked cookies for our military personnel. We're asking each baker to make about 60 of their favorite cookies. They can be delivered in bulk to the E.48th Street Market on 4/16 and 17 before 6PM. We will repack them on the day of service.
  • On-Site "Servers": Eight people to serve at the USO at the airport from 9 AM to 3 PM. Duties vary from greeter, cookie packer, hot dog grill mate, server, bag monitor among other to do items that need to be done to serve our military service personnel. We will serve our service personnel and family members an “All American” lunch of hot dogs with all the condiments, potato chips, fresh fruit, snack bars, home baked cookies bottled water plus a portion of baked Ziti & Mom’s meatballs.
  • Donaters: Members who are unable to volunteer can participate by donating bottled water (small bottles) and snack bars such as Nature Valley available at Costco at reasonable prices. Items can be dropped off at the E.48th Street Market on 4/16 and 17th before 6 PM

Transportation: It is strongly recommended that volunteers take MARTA to the airport instead of driving due to the continued limited parking caused by airport construction.

Please contact Charlie Augello at Italian@e48stmarket.com if you would like to be a volunteer or be a cookie baker.

Golf Tournament Update
Another Week Closer and So Many Opportunities ...

If you were at last Friday's meeting, you got another heartfelt, straight view into why we are partnering with the Georgia Alzheimer's Association on our May 13 FORE the Memories! Golf Tournament. He shared personal stories about the effects of the disease on patients and caregivers, and news about research, medication and patient advocacy. And he told us that the $25,000 we donated last year made us #2 in their list of The Longest Day giving program in 2023. And the rest of the money we raised went to the Dunwoody Rotary Charitable Fund to help with the work we do in the community.

So here's our news for the week:

  • We have a new way for you to join the golf tournament fundraising fun! For a donation of $50 or more, you will get your name on the tournament website as  a “Participating Sponsor” and receive a custom made wood cellphone stand (pictured above) made by our own Ken Levy. If you donated last Friday to this offer, please let me know so we can add your name to the list of sponsors! We will also sell these at the tournament auction if you miss the chance now
  • Alison Norris will be working with any members wanting to work at the event. Please reach out to Alison if you are not playing golf and are interested in volunteering.

It would be great to have 100% participation by the club - in the forms of donations and/or volunteer hours.

Don't Miss Out on the Fun!

Navigating Branding Challenges: A Reflection on My First Year as Public Image Chair at the Rotary Club of Dunwoody

by Mark Galvin, Public Image Chair, RC of Dunwoody ...

As I reflect on my inaugural year serving as the Public Image Chair for the esteemed Rotary Club of Dunwoody, I am filled with gratitude for the wealth of knowledge and insight our members have shared with me. It's been a journey of discovery, particularly in understanding the significance of our club's rich history and the pivotal role it plays in shaping our identity.

One area that presented a challenge for me was navigating the intricacies of our club's branding. Balancing the preservation of our cherished traditions with the necessity to align with Rotary International's updated brand guidelines proved to be an enlightening experience. It's not uncommon for brands to undergo evolution to remain relevant and resonate with contemporary audiences. After all, staying current is essential in attracting new members and ensuring the vitality of our organization.

Attached, you'll find our brand standards, tailored specifically for the Rotary Club of Dunwoody, meticulously crafted to pay homage to our storied past while adhering to the directives set forth by Rotary International. [more]

News You Can Use
Where Do I Find the Club Directory/Roster?

Last week, I received an email from a member of our Dunwoody Family of Rotary asking whether we had an updated copy of the paper roster we used to have available at the check-in desk most Fridays - a creation of Teak Pacetti in his role as administrator.

You can use this link to go straight to a printable directory with pictures: pdf-directory (dunwoodyrotary.org). Be patient - it may take a little time to load. We'll try to include this link in the bulletin once a quarter. You can also go to our website for a searchable directory - learn how ... [more]
