August 21: Message from the President

What a Paws-itively Perfect Day we had this past Saturday during our “Dog for a Day” adventure. Nineteen Buckhead Rotarians and their families enjoyed a sunny stroll down Path 400, joined by seven adorable, four-legged friends from LifeLine Animal Project. From belly rubs to slobbery kisses, the afternoon was filled with laughter, fresh air, and the kind of stress relief only dogs can provide. The smiles on our members’ faces were matched by the happy panting of our four-legged walking buddies. Please consider supporting LifeLine Animal Project and help more precious pups and kitties  fetch their fur-ever homes.

Best regards,

Shelley Hammell

Cheering Betsy!

Part of our job as Buckhead Rotarians is to inspire, encourage and support one another. To be role models so to speak; sometimes quietly, sometimes right out loud. Betsy Barge, still early in her seventh decade of life, decided to take up competitive Open Water Swimming!

Ready to be impressed? Check out this race video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHYHlYzP32E

This week she will travel to Istanbul, Turkey to compete in two storied cross continental Open Water Races. The first is from Asia to Europe crossing the Bosphorus River on Sunday August 24th.  The second race, born in Greek mythology, crosses the Dardanelles Straight from Europe to Asia on August 30th.

Last week members pledged more than $2,500 to our Buckhead Rotary Foundation as a token of encouragement to Betsy in her inspiring quest. In turn Betsy has pledged to match dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, our member's contributions of encouragement! These funds will go directly into the corpus of our Foundation. Each year about five percent of the Foundation corpus is distributed to our charitable grants and projects…about $100,000!

Just another reason why “I Believe in the Power of Rotary." If you would like to add your cheer to Betsy with a contribution, send an email with the dollar amount to Jim Coleman; jcolemanoss72@gmail.com.

We will put you on the matching list!
