ROTARY CLUB OF |
President | Rick Otness |
President-Elect | Rick Woods |
Secretary | Mike Parks |
Treasurer | Larry Domenico |
Felipe Nakamura Bassani was born in Campo Mourão, Brazil, in 1995. He started his degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at the State University of Maringá, in 2014. In the same year, he joined the research office for human settlements and traditional construction (Lapha). For that reason,
Felipe has participated in several competitions, obtaining positive results, with the first place in 4 of these and an honorable mention. The last contest was held to celebrate the 150-year celebration of the famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. With this victory, Felipe’s group will represent his home country at the ceremony.
Son of Carlos Roberto Bassani, a businessman in the field of the optical lens and jewelry and Natalina Nakamura Bassani, a retired bank manager and the founding member of the Rotary Club Raio de Luz, Felipe has participated in some volunteer work and community leadership roles.
He’s passionate about the arts, music, and film. His willingness to travel and learn different cultures will be maximized by the GRSP’s opportunities and connections and will lead him to both personal and professional growth.
His greatest dream is to continue to accomplish all he can for the greater good of helping those in need. After all, one way to make a true impact for others is to live out the term, service above self.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2017, you should receive a formal notice of two proposed changes to our Club's By-laws.
The email will contain the exact wording of each amendment, as well as the procedure for casting an absentee ballot should you plan not to attend the Club's normal Friday, September 8, 2017, at which time the amendments will be voted upon by the Membership.
Please keep an eye out for this blast email.
On Saturday, September 9, 2017, the Club will be purging unnecessary items from the Club's storage unit.
After each event a lot of "extra stuff" gets returned to the storage unit, some of which doesn't really need to be saved. Saturday will be the great purge. Anything that doesn't appear to be vital will be tossed.
If you know of specific items that are currently being stored in the unit that need to be retained for future use, please contact the relevant person listed below before Saturday, and identify those items along with the reason as to why they are needed.

Our Club By-laws require a vote by the Membership on any "one time" expenditure of $10,000 (or more). The survey indicates a substantial portion of the Club feels we should give at least $10,000.
As a result the Board is looking into our options, and will vote on a motion once our options have been identified. At that point we will come to the membership to seek the Membership's approval.
On Sunday, October 1, 2017, The Rotary Club of Dunwoody will host a BBQ party from 3PM - 7PM to welcome our GRSP student, Felipe Bassani, from Brazil. All Rotarians will have the opportunity to give a warm personal welcome and celebrate our new GRSP student .

An oft-quoted maxim says, "No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care". - Theodore Roosevelt
The cards for members and their families that circulate during our meetings are one way to express shared joy over good news or shared concern about difficulties experienced. As one of our members recently stated at his return from surgery, getting a card with heartfelt greetings from all the members present helped him feel better and heal sooner.
Once we know our friendly breakfast club is also a caring club, our dedication to "Service Above Self" is stronger and we look forward to participating in projects and events with other Rotarians. If we are in need of a service, the first call made will be to a Rotarian.
So, if you are aware of an approaching or past event worthy of celebration or concern, please tell Dottie Toney-Ransom at toneydot@me.com. You can also write it on either a yellow card (for joy) or a blue card (for concern) and leave it on the table, or place it in Dottie's hand at the end of the meeting.
We ARE a very caring club! Thank you for helping to make it so.
