Members of the Rotary Club of Griffin were asked to sign up for their favorite college football team either individually or as a team of two. All teams chosen by Rotarians was followed and recorded regardless of conference, wins, or losses. The challenge was based only on the total number of points your team scores in each game during the season. An individual player will pay $1 for each point scored by your team during the season. That amount will be $1.20 for a team of two Rotarians. There is a cap of $400 per individual or $200 for each partner in a team of two. Every two weeks an update was given of college footballs teams with the most points scored and Rotarians.
Chuck Copeland, leading the first pep rally for our college football fundraiser, reported that Florida State was leading all others with 111 points in the first 2 games. Washington (99), Louisville (95), Georgia (93), and Georgia Southern (83) rounded out the Top Five. David Johnson and Skipper Burns were co-winners in the first pep rally, each supporting Florida State. Alas! Neither David nor Skipper was in attendance, so their winnings went to support PolioPlus based on a voice vote of those in attendance. Stayed tuned for our second pep rally on September 28th.
Chuck Copeland announced that the Community Project Fundraiser netted almost $15,700! Yvonne Langford was awarded top points honors with her Colorado School of Mining scoring 613 points this season. Leslie Lantis won low point honors with Army scoring only 241 points over the season. Steve Ledbetter and Robert Johnson shared in Bama having the highest point total in the last 2 weeks of the season. Congrats and thanks to all.
