When DG Jim Squire visited the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey/Clayton County, the club include a Paul Harris ceremony for newly inducted member Dr. Manohar Nallathambi. A recently retired surgeon, Dr. Nallathambi stated that he has admired Rotary for many years but that the demands of his profession prevented him from making the time commitment he wanted to make to the Club. Accordingly, soon after his retirement he responded to invitations from Rotary members. DG Jim received a special gift during his visit from Rotary Reads, the official book club of the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey/ Clayton County. They presented a rare and collectible book, The Rotary Club Murder Mystery. Written by Rotarian Graham Landrum, an English professor at King's College in Bristol, Tennessee, the book includes many thoughtful references about Rotary and especially so because the plot centers on the murder of the District Governor just before his scheduled visit to the local club. Another interesting feature of the book is that the lead "detective" on the case is 88 year-old, Harriet Bushrow, spouse of a member of the local Rotary Club. Harriet also is featured as the lead detective in other books written by Rotarian Graham Landrum. In the phot, DG Jim holds the book as Rotarian Ron Swofford alerts him to the plot.

Another especially important feature of DG Jim's visit to the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey/Clayton County was his presentation about Rotary's efforts to eradicate Polio, which was especially relevant on this day that just preceded the official World Polio Day. Following DG Jim's presentation, Chairman Jeff Turner of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners presented a proclamation to the Rotary Club of Lake Spivey/Clayton County recognizing the Club's many and valuable contributions in the struggle against Polio.
