Newnan Awards $20,000 in Local Community Grants

Last month, the Rotary Club of Newnan presented checks to 17 Coweta County non-profits, including Newnan Coweta Habitat for Humanity, One Roof, CORRAL, Coweta CASA, Backpack Buddies, Elevate Coweta (Communities In Schools), Coweta FORCE, Salvation Army, Backstreet Arts, Meals on Wheels Coweta, I58 Mission, Newnan Cultural Arts Commission, Bike Coweta, Riverlife, Coweta STEM Institute, Coweta Samaritan Clinic, and the Newnan Theatre Company. Each year, the club gives out $10,000 in donations to local organizations. This year, an extra $10,000 donation by Random Productions and Blackhall Studios allowed the club to donate $20,000. Bill Carrarro, Executive Director of HBO's Lovecraft Country said the extra donation was made by the filmmaker to help benefit the community. "We know that the Rotary Club benefits the town of Newnan in many ways and the donation is our pleasure to make," he added. Club President Carol Moore estimates that the donations will benefit more than 4,300 people in the local community.
