On August 8, DG Andre’ Marria and Assistant Governor Susan Ferguson joined Meriwether County Rotarians to put together Dignity Bags or It’s a Girls’ Thing Bags for the girls within the Meriwether County School System. It's part of the club's ongoing Meriwether County Empowers Girls partnership with Meriwether County School System Wraparound Services Program. Through this partnership, the Meriwether County Rotary Club helps by providing feminine hygiene products within zippered dignity bags for girls within the school system.
Dignity is
one of the most important things to the human spirit. Only with dignity can
people achieve things like being good in school, finding friends, or leading a
happy life. Having dignity means being treated with respect and treating others
with respect.
No student should have to choose between their education and
or their dignity. No family should have to choose between buying groceries or feminine
products. Having feminine pads and hygiene cleaning products accessible is
essential in empowering girls to maintain that dignity and avoid severe
concerns to their mental and physical health.
The zippered Dignity Bags ensure girls can attend classes and school activities without those monthly worries. Each bag contains an assortment of feminine products, including various pads and cleaning cloths. If more is needed, girls can visit the Wraparound Care Closet to replenish their It’s a Girls Thing Bag.
