In the true spirit of service, the Decatur Rotary Club spent their
Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend giving back to their community.
Rotarians, including DG Gordon and Ashley Owens, came together to help restore
the home of an elderly couple in their neighborhood, bringing smiles, comfort,
and hope to a family in need.
The project was more than a repair job; it was a labor of love.
Volunteers spent the weekend painting, repairing damaged areas, and sprucing up
the yard to create a safer and more welcoming environment. By focusing on
much-needed improvements, the team ensured the couple could continue to live
comfortably in their home.
This effort highlights Rotary’s commitment to "Service Above
Self." Beyond physical repairs, the Decatur Rotarians built connections
with the family, offering companionship and showcasing the power of community.
The weekend wasn’t just about manual labor—it was also an
opportunity for Rotarians to strengthen their bonds and inspire each other
through teamwork. With such an impactful initiative, the Decatur Rotary Club
set a high standard for community involvement while embodying Rotary's core
mission of creating positive, lasting change.
