The Rotary Club of Thomasville is proud to have Ivan Correa Santoyo , a distinguished sophomore at Thomas County Central High School, selected as one of District 6900's six outbound Rotary Youth Exchange students for the 2025-26 school year. Ivan will spend his RYE high school year in France.
At just 15 years old, Ivan exemplifies the qualities of leadership, scholarship, and community service. Born in Mexico and a U.S. permanent resident since the age of two, Ivan has flourished within the Thomas County Schools system, transforming from an introvert into a gregarious and outgoing young man. His zeal for engaging with people and exploring new experiences is commendable.
Ivan’s academic prowess is evident in his perfect 4.0 GPA, and his involvement in both curricular and extracurricular activities is equally impressive. A dedicated participant in the MERIT program since sixth grade, he has also been actively involved in a variety of organizations, including Scouts, the Science Academy, the Spanish Club, and the Stock Market Game. Ivan's leadership skills are further highlighted by his involvement in the National Junior Honor Society, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, Debate Club, and Youth Assembly.
Currently enrolled in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), KEY Club, and a year-round swimmer with the YMCA, Ivan continues to demonstrate his commitment to personal growth and excellence. His volunteer efforts with Hands on Thomas County (HOTC), Project Backyard, Hands and Hearts for Horses, and notably, the Thomasville Rotary Club itself, illustrate a deep-rooted commitment to his community.
Ivan’s interests in geopolitics and finances fuel his aspiration to become a political analyst. Recognized as an optimist and a loyal friend, he is also known for his spirited pursuit of goals and his playful sibling rivalry.
The Rotary Club of Thomasville expresses enthusiastic support for Ivan as he prepares for this life-changing opportunity. We are confident that his year abroad in France will not only enhance his understanding of global cultures and communities but also further his abilities as a future leader in the global arena.
