Before a disaster we advise all local agencies of their emergency functions. During the disaster, we oversee the operations of all agencies. Following a disaster we coordinate resources with State and Federal agencies to facilitate recovery.
Chuck Ray, GEMA Field Operations Manager, There are eight regional GEMA Areas in the state and each one has an Area Coordinator. All eight Area Coordinators directly report to Chuck. 10 Buckhead: Chastain Park Work Day and Picnic Lunch SOLD OUT We will be helping the Chastain Park Conservancy to make improvements. Tools will be provided, but be sure to bring work gloves, hats and sunscreen, and Covid protection items. Children welcome if supervised. Work will be from 10am to noon followed by a picnic lunch. Use the driveway at 4001 Powers Ferry Road and follow it across the golf course (yield to golfers and carts) to the Conservancy building 12p Buckhead: Family Picnic A Family Picnic for all Buckhead Rotarians will follow the workday on the 27th. You don't have to help with the workday to enjoy the picnic - it's open to everyone, but reservations are required so that we have enough food for all. • Speaker: Michele Craig with Paulding Family Connection. She spoke to us about the statewide connection and how each county is unique to the needs within that county. PFC focuses on School Success and Birth to 5. Many subcommittees are under both initiatives. July begins the new year and the school system agreed to be their fiscal agent. She spoke about the L4GA Grant – Get Paulding Reading, The Back to School Backpack program, Parent Advisory Board with the Civic Dinner on 4/30. PFC receives funding through the Department of Public Health, Regional 1, and Pittlouch Foundation. Our club stated that we would help with the backpack project.
• Tornadoes in Newnan – Club voted to give $500 to Newnan when the Rotary District or Newnan Club advises their needs. Ivy contacted Newnan, Paulding clubs and our AG to let them know our intent.
• Golf – If you get sponsors, please have them send you their logos as JPEGS and get them to Cindy. Ivy informed the club that GA Power Foundation declined sponsorship.

1p Americus: Weekly Club Meeting - Special Agent in Charge Joe Chesnut, GBI Region 3 Field Office Guest Special Agent in Charge Joe Chesnut has been assigned to the GBI Region 3 Field Office in Americus. GBI Regional offices assist local law enforcement agencies, when requested, in a variety of felony criminal investigations. These regional offices also investigate criminal violations on property owned by the state or its departments, bureaus, commissions, or authorities.
Prior to his transfer, Agent Chesnut established the newly formed Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office in Albany, Georgia which serves 42 counties in Southwest Georgia. Agent Chesnut was previously the Special Agent in Charge of the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, which serves the Metropolitan area of Atlanta where he was a supervisor for over ten years.
Chesnut has been with the GBI for 23 years and was previously assigned to the State Drug Task Force and the GBI Regional Office in Sylvester. Prior to joining the GBI, Agent Chesnut served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office for six years.
Agent Chesnut is a graduate of the 251st Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, and holds a Master’s Degree in Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Georgia Southwestern State University.
Currently, Agent Chesnut serves as the Vice President of the Georgia Narcotics Officers Association and is a delegate for the National Narcotics Officers Association.
