In this month of FIFA World Cup and Rotary Leadership Changeover, I want to sincerely thank everyone for the honor and privilege of allowing me to serve you all as DG. We United for Good and had a very special and memorable year. You all continue to amaze me with all of your hard work, ideas, generosity and action to serve and help others so selflessly. I want to wish District Governor Cynthia Edwards and her leadership team the best as they work very hard to create lasting impact in the community and world. I want to thank the presidents for leading their clubs so effectively, the governor line and PDG Bob Hagan for mentoring me, the PDG’s for selecting me, and the leadership team that always supported me and the district. It takes a village……
June has been one of my most memorable months overall. It started off with a local news magazine telling my story and how Rotary has enabled me to engage in the community. It was an honor to be called one of Fayette County’s Phenomenal Men. Thank you Rotary for enabling this!
And it included attending the International Convention in Taipei from June 13-17 with 16 Rotarians from D6900. This event had approximately 38,000 Rotarians from all over the world and was educational and exciting and fun. Our Rotarians did great work and all engaged so well. We had a several hundred member Zone Gathering, a District Dinner and exchanged lots and lots of ideas in the House of Friendship. The photos with this article are from RI Convention in Taipei - we had a great time! You might want to consider joining us for the convention in Barcelona next year!
I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and commitment to our mission and service overall. I have attached two video links for you all to use and share of the results of our collective efforts.
We have given $1.19M to annual fund and polio plus, done hundreds of service projects and grants. We also have grown, creating three new clubs, one Rotaract club, expanded the Peachtree City Club with a vibrant new companion club, and revitalized the Rotary Club of Atlanta Brasil. The exciting news about NAPA, Johns Creek Central and Atlanta Ascent is that all of these clubs are mostly young professionals and already growing rapidly! We have also continued to strengthen our governance and processes. We have had extremely well-done major events: PELS, CLLS, District Conference, International Convention, and more.
