The Rotary Club of Atlanta Brasil is launching a new peacebuilding and cultural exchange initiative designed to strengthen conversational English, build confidence, and create meaningful connections among Rotarians across District 6900.

Two Rotarians. Two Cultures. One Conversation. pairs Rotarians who want to strengthen their conversational English with fellow Rotarians who are willing to meet, socialize, listen, and encourage them in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We are inviting all District 6900 Rotarians to volunteer as Conversation Partners.

The commitment is simple: participate in at least three meet-and-greets with a fellow Rotarian. These gatherings can be over coffee, lunch, a walk, a Rotary meeting, a service project, or another informal social setting.

No teaching experience is required.

This is not a traditional English class. The goal is to create a comfortable space where Rotarians can practice English without fear of embarrassment, judgment, or making mistakes, while also building friendships across clubs and cultures.

Each conversation is an opportunity to learn from one another, share personal stories, exchange traditions, and strengthen cultural understanding.

For the English learner, the experience can build confidence and reduce the frustration or shyness that often comes with communicating in a second language.

For the volunteer Conversation Partner, it is an opportunity to learn about another culture, support a fellow Rotarian, and strengthen connections throughout our District.

At its heart, this is a peacebuilding project.

When we take time to listen, communicate with patience, and understand another person's culture and experience, we help create stronger relationships and more inclusive communities.

Sometimes peace begins with something as simple as sharing a cup of coffee and having a conversation.

How You Can Volunteer

We are looking for District 6900 Rotarians who are willing to:

• Meet with a fellow Rotarian at least three times.
• Create a friendly, judgment-free environment for English conversation.
• Listen, encourage, and socialize.
• Share your own culture and learn about someone else's.
• Help strengthen friendship and connection across Rotary clubs.

You do not need to be an English teacher. You simply need to be willing to give your time, conversation, and friendship.
