Muscogee-Columbus Hosts Oyster Roast

The Rotary Club of Muscogee-Columbus is continuing to grow - and has been enjoying some socials out in the community and are happy to say members from both the other clubs in town have participated. Our most recent gathering was at one of our members' homes on the lake for an oyster roast.

This brings back fond memories for Club President Lora Warren as her family was always the workforce behind the downtown Columbus Rotary oyster roast at Jekyll Island. Our day this year started off great - with beautiful weather and a good number of people attending; then came the thunder, lightning and rain. We scurried around to put the tables with the food underneath the tent cover up our craft activity table and move our 10 different raffle prize items inside before it got too wet.

Our Club president got soaked. At least she was prepared by wearing a bathing suit and her apron and continue to roast and steam oysters in the rain. The Club is happy to say that even after the rain started, all the attendees stayed until we were able to eat more and enjoy seeing who won the different raffle prizes.
