There is no regular Rotary Friday morning meeting this week, but there's plenty of opportunity to see your Rotary friends and help welcome the GRSP Class of 2019-20 to Atlanta for our annual GRSP Leadership Conference. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody has been involved in this leadership weekend for at least the last 15 years. Fred and Kathy Brandt were our original weekend leaders, and Scott Jennings, Harvey Rosenzweig and Mike Parks have all served as our weekend chairs. For the last few years, Louise Barden and her team have been hard at work to create a great agenda and coordinate logistics for the weekend.
Students will be visiting the Atlanta History Center and participating in escape room fun on Friday. On Saturday, they'll participate in a variety of workshops and a service project where they'll assemble water filters. And, on Sunday morning, they'll participate in a Shark Tank competition - developing a service project idea.
This year, we have a total of 17 host families - 12 from Dunwoody, two each from North Atlanta and Buckhead, and one from the Gainesville Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Metro Atlanta and the Rotaract Club of Atlanta will be helping with various parts of the weekend. Saturday night, we'll be hosting group suppers at three Rotarians' homes - Jennie Stipick, Carter Stout and Jackie Cuthbert.
Thanks to all of you who have been part of that and those who have agreed to help with parts of the weekend or host students. It's not to late to be part of the weekend - check in with Louise on volunteer opportunities! And feel free to drop by for part of the weekend, especially the events at Oglethorpe all day Saturday and Sunday morning. You can view the agenda so you'll know where we'll be.
