The Rotary Club of Carrollton will complete its 4rd roadside cleanup of the year behind the Carrollton Crossroads Shopping Center.
Eight Rotarians cleaned up trash around Cross Roads Shopping Center in Carrollton, Ga. We walked around the center and picked up over 10 trash bags of trash. This improved the overall appearance of the center and removed environmental hazards from the area.
We adopt and maintained the roadway behind Cross Roads Shopping Center in Carrollton, GA. We had 14 participants and collected over 14 bags of trash around the center.
ARC Carroll (Association for Remarkable People) Carroll has been granted a new home for adults who require care due to mental disabilities. Our club provided funds to purchase furniture for this project. We bought 4 recliner chairs; 1 kitchen table and 4 chairs; 2 kitchen tables.
This was a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls club. There was an auction which raised additional funds for the Club.
Our club participated in the Dawn Breakers 5K-10K run to raise funds for the Carrollton Boys and Girls Club. We had 7 participants and paid $25.00 per participant. We had 2 members who volunteered to help. The funds from this run will be used to help the local Boys and Girls club. This club focus's on helping kids succeed in school, live healthy lifestyles, and become strong future leaders.
We will provide food and manpower to serve super for Circles graduation night for participants who have achieved independence to live and take care of themselves after suffering from drug abuse, physical abuse and other detriments to their lives. The Carrollton Rotary Club helped the Dawn breakers Rotary club of Carrollton to serve and pay for this meal.
We will provide help to harvest corn from a local farmer in Carrollton to give to our senior citizens in Carrollton and Temple. This project was well received. There were 25,140 ears of corn collected. This is approximately 419 bushels of corn. Our club members physically picked the corn and delivered it to senior centers. There were other participants picking corn including business people, high school athletes, school administrators and retired seniors. The corn was distributed to the Temple, GA., Bremen, GA, and Carrollton, GA senior centers. A bushel of corn cost $384.00 as of this post
The Rotary Club of Carrollton contributed as a sponsor of the Dawnbreakers Rotary Club's Casino Night. Proceeds help fund their on-going projects.
We had 5 Rotary Club of Carrollton members at the event as well.
This project has never been done in Carroll county. The Department of Family and Children's Services manages the foster child program in Carroll County. There is a small playground at the facility that is geared towards children less than 10 years old. This new playground will be geared towards small children to teenagers. There are currently 226 Foster children in Carroll county. They age from babies to teenagers. This play ground is about 30 feet by 20 feet in area.
The Rotary Club of Carrollton partnered with area schools and read and celebrate Dr. Seuss and his writings. We had 3 Rotarians read at Oak Mountain Academy; 2 Rotarians read at Central Elementary School. 10 Rotarian read at Carrollton Elementary and 1 Rotarian read a Mt. Zion Elementary School.
The Rotary Club of Carrollton has participated with the League of Women Voters to present a series of speakers to the community. The topics are usually of serious political, economic and religious issues that face our world. The goal is to increase awareness and promote a better understanding of each topic.
The Rotary Club of Carrollton participated in Great Strides, a charitable walk/run held on the campus of UWG. We raised 3,500 for the cause and had 11 members particiapte.
