Alpharetta Adds to School's Educational Garden

Alpharetta Rotarians in Action recently installed Lionheart Garden's chicken coop. Thank you, President Kile Lewis, Dan Merkel, Paul Ray, Casey Robinson, Heather Wagner, and the Lionheart Crew!

The Lionheart Gardens is an organic farm tended by faculty, staff, and students of The Lionheart School and volunteers from the community. Students learn about growing and eating healthy food, maintaining sustainable garden practices, recycling and composting and the science associated with farming. The Lionheart Gardens combines the efforts in the classroom with shared experiences in a farm/garden setting. This learning environment also creates work experiences to complement the academic program supported at The Lionheart School. The Lionheart Gardens provide valuable life skills to students and, for some, an opportunity to receive vocational training and potential job placement post-graduation.

Produce from the Lionheart Gardens is available at its weekly garden market and at local area restaurants. Some of the area restaurants that support the Lionheart Gardens include Table & Main, Osteria, Mattone, Colletta’s, El Felix.
