This Week's Speaker
Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan ... In-Person and Zoom

This week's speaker is our own Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan. Rumor has it he may be joined by at least one member of the Dunwoody K-9 squad. You can join us in-person at Le Meridien Atlanta Perimeter or via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86202979419

Billy Grogan became the first Chief of Police for the new City of Dunwoody in December 2008 after completing a 28-year career with the Marietta Police Department as a Deputy Chief. He joined the Rotary Club of Dunwoody six months later - in June 2009.

Billy has a Masters of Public Administration from Kennesaw State University and is a graduate of the 193rd Session of the FBI National Academy.

As a police professional, Chief Grogan is committed to the concept of community policing as a way to connect with the community in a meaningful way to combat crime and disorder while improving the quality of life for the visitors and citizens of Dunwoody. While serving for the Marietta Police Department, Chief Grogan co-developed the award winning Marietta Strategically Targeting Areas with Resources (M-STAR) community policing program. In 2008, Chief Grogan presented a senior leadership workshop on Community Policing to senior Egyptian police leaders in Cairo, Egypt.

Chief Grogan believes strongly that serving the community is a calling. Giving back and being involved in the community has always been a passion of his. As a member of our club, Billy has volunteered for numerous community projects benefitting various non-profits. In addition, he has served for several years as the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Director for Special Olympics Georgia.

Chief Grogan has served as past president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and has been serving on the IACP Human and Civil Rights Committee since 2006. He is committed to providing fair and impartial policing services to the citizens of Dunwoody and firmly believes that trust is the foundation of the Dunwoody Police Department’s relationship with its community.
