Griffin Rotary Embraces Youth Service and Supports Teachers in the Community

The Rotary Club of Griffin welcomed over 100 new teachers and administrators to its July 27 meeting for its annual New Teacher Appreciation luncheon. The 2017 Georgia Teacher of the Year, Casey Bethel, presented the program. Mr. Bethel praised the Rotary Club of Griffin for bringing together educators and community leaders. The Club also presented donations to the Griffin-Spalding Education Celebration which provides school supplies to teachers for use in the classroom, and to the Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education to support its classroom and field trip grants for teachers.

The Rotary Club of Griffin also sponsored Gray Long, a rising junior from St. George’s Episcopal School in Milner, Georgia, to attend RYLA at Georgia Southwestern State University. Gray spoke to the club at its August 3 meeting to thank them for allowing him to participate in RYLA.
