The Rotary Peace Centers have announced the launch of the 2019 Rotary Peace Fellowship application process. Through this program, each year Rotary selects up to 100 professionals from around the world to receive fellowships to study at one of our Rotary Peace Centers. Through academic training, practice and global networking opportunities, these centers develop leaders who can become catalysts for peace and conflict prevention and resolution. The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportatoin, and all internship and field-study expenses. In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,000 fellows for careers in peacebuilding. Many of them are serving as leaders at international organizations or have started their own foundations.

As the 2019 fellowship application cycle begins, we would like to share important preliminary information about the 2019 application cycle. Our District 6900 Rotary Peace Fellowship Sub-Committee Chair is Dr. Laura Kann from the Rotary Club of Dunwoody.

Timeline

• February 2018: Application Launch
• February-May: District 6900 recruits and mentors potential Rotary Peace Fellowship candidates
• May 31, 2018: Applications due to District 6900 for endorsement consideration
• June 2018: Candidates interviewed (All candidates must to be interviewed by the district to receive district endorsement)
• July 1, 2018: District endorsement decisions due to The Rotary Foundation
• Mid-November: Selection decisions released

Who is Eligible

Peace fellowship applicants must meet these requirements:

• Proficiency in English; a second language is strongly recommended
• Demonstrated commitment to international understanding and peace
• Excellent leadership skills
• Master’s degree applicants: minimum three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
• Certificate applicants: minimum five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background
