On Saturday, April 14, the Rotary Clubs of Roswell Rotary and Johns Creek-North Fulton hosted the inaugural 5k Trailblazer Run to raise proceeds to support Rotary International's End Polio Now initiative. The run offered a unique opportunity to do a 3K run through the woods of Roswell’s newest trail at Garrard Park Landing. Rotarians ran alongside local citizens, and the event raised $7,500 for the cause.
To properly train, each week Roswell Rotarian race organizer Stacy Sims created video demonstrations of exercises participants could do to prepare themselves for the 3K. Videos were also available for viewing on the Roswell Rotary Facebook page. Sims emphasized that patrons were not required to run the 3k; they could walk.
The event was a great collaboration between the two Rotary clubs. Working together, new friendships were made as everyone came out in support of one cause – End Polio Now.
