On Saturday September 29, 2018, Rotary and its partners are hosting a Polio Symposium at the Shriners Temple Auditorium,400 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. The Keynote Speaker is Hamid Jafari, M.D., Principal Deputy Director at CDC, Division of Global Health. He spent 20+ years on Polio missions with WHO and CDC, and led the effort in India and around the world. Please spread the word. We will also demonstrate a real Iron Lung and have FDR-era wheel chairs.
Rotary District 6900 Polio Co-Chair Yamin Farhat says, “All Rotarians worldwide, young and old (among them some Polio survivors) are committed to eradicating Polio ASAP. Each day we help raise the needed funds, work with Rotary partners e.g. CDC, UNICEF, WHO, administer vaccines, educate people, etc. We want all children of this and future generations in the world to live Polio free lives and for their parents to never have to deal with this disease. We've seen the effects and learned. There is still no cure, but we've mastered its management through vaccinations.”
More updates will be forthcoming. For more details or to participate, please contact Yamin Farhat or PDG Bob Hagan.
