Georgia’s first class of Rotary Youth Exchange inbound students have reached the halfway mark in their cultural and educational exchange year in the USA.Our six inbound students were selected last year by their local Rotary clubs and districts in Brazil, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, and Thailand to represent their country as an ambassador to Rotary District 6900 in Georgia. After participating in Rotary Youth Exchange Inbound Orientation and Training with other exchange students in the South, these talented young people moved in with their first Georgia host families and registered for high school here. They take a full load of classes in area high schools while perfecting their English language skills, participating in Rotary meetings and service projects, and learning all about US culture. Rotary Youth Exchange inbound students also serve as ambassadors for their native countries by making presentations at their schools and host Rotary clubs and helping Georgia’s outbound students prepare for their year abroad.

In December, our Rotary Youth Exchange students joined other inbound students from South Carolina and Florida for a group trip to Walt Disney World. Nearly 100 energetic exchange students from more than 30 countries visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT Center, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Studios with their Rotarian chaperones. They also participated in a very special Disney behind-the-scenes educational tour to learn how principals of science are used designing and operating Disney theme parks.

In January, our Rotary Youth Exchange students participated in a marine science educational program and a Hurricane Irma recovery Rotary service project at SeaCamp, in Big Pine Key, Florida.
