District Confernece Final Update
It’s Showtime! Rotacon 2018 is less than 2 weeks away! Oh, and Taylor Swift tickets

In less than two weeks, the greatest show in all of District 6900 will take place at sunny Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. If you’re registered, you’re in for a great time! And if you’ve waited until now, you’re not too late. Registration is still open!

To help you prepare for the best experience, here are the top 14 items to consider:

1.Thursday night is Rotary Geek night. This is a ticketed event ($55 per person) located at the Baytowne Marina. Oh, did we mention that it’s Rotary geek night? Just wear your most obnoxious Rotary gear and you’ll be right at home.

2.Friday afternoon will be a time to learn! A new addition to district conference this year, Rotacon You is series of engaging, informational sessions geared towards the everyday Rotarian. Stop in to learn how to take your club to the next level.

3.Friday evening opens with the first general session. Don’t miss this kickoff to the weekend. We have a few tricks up our sleeves, and you’ll see one of them Friday.

4.Saturday morning starts off with a 5K PolioPlus walk/run at 7:00 am. You couldn’t find a better setting in which to burn off a few calories. No registration is needed. Just show up ready to sweat. The race start and stop will be just in front of the Grand Sandestin.

5.A little later Saturday morning, roll up your sleeves and get your service on. More than 150 volunteers will be needed to pack 30,000 meals in a Rise Against Hunger event. Come to the Azalea level of the Baytowne Conference Center to participate.

6.And late morning on Saturday, we will have a TED-style speaker event, dubbed Connecting for Social Good – A Rotary District 6900 Production, with three high-impact speakers in a moderated panel format. At the end of the session, audience members will be invited to engage the speakers with their own questions. This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ($20 admission fee). If you’re registered for Rotacon 2018, you’re automatically registered to attend this event. Get more information at http://www.sandestin.com/events/detail/connecting-...

7.Enjoy a rare opportunity Saturday afternoon to watch a master artist in action. Ross Rossin, world-renowned portrait artist, will transform a blank canvas into a work of art which will be auctioned off during the Saturday evening session to support PolioPlus. Bring your checkbook!

8.On Saturday afternoon, you’ll also have the opportunity to take a Seaside tour or fanboat ride, play a round of golf or tennis, play at the beach with conference-provided games, or enjoy a spa session. Separate registration and fees apply. Visit the “Adventure” tab on the conference web page ( https://rotary6900.org/v2/page/378) for contact information.

9.Saturday evening will be the Rotacon service Oscars! Work with your club to pick your favorite movie and then come dressed in the style of that movie. And celebrate as we recogniz the top projects from around the district. Your votes will determine the winners!

10. Sunday morning closes out with an inspirational general session with top speakers and programs from around the district.

11. Looking for a place to enjoy fellowship with Rotarians from around the district? Then look no further – a trip to the Friendship Lounge will set you on your way. Located on the 3 rd floor of the Grand Sandestin with all of the club-sponsored hospitality suites, the Friendship Lounge will be the central hub for hospitality throughout the weekend. Enjoy samples of moonshine on Friday and bourbon on Saturday (both 1:00 to 2:30 and first come, first served!) along with other special programming. If your club would like to join the Friendship Lounge team as a sponsor (for $250) and claim one of the remaining shifts, contact Friendship Lounge chair Jaclyn Donovan at jaclyn.k.donovan@gmail.com for information.

12. Registration in the Magnolia Foyer of the Baytowne Conference Center will be open Thursday 3-5 pm, Friday 10 am – 4 pm, and Saturday 8 am – 2 pm.

13. As a part of your registration fee, food will be provided Friday lunch, Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, and Sunday breakfast. Light hors d'oeuvres will also be served at receptions on Friday and Saturday nights.

14. Doors prizes for attending the general sessions will include a 55” HDTV, a $125 Sandestin gift card, and Taylor Swift tickets for two on Saturday, August 11 th in Atlanta.
